The RV Club will meet Tuesday, Jan. 16, in Clubhouse 3, Room 1, the first general meeting of the new year. The dinner and social hour begins at 5 p.m. The club is holding a soup contest. Members are encouraged to bring a crockpot of soup for the competition. Three winners will receive gift cards. The refreshment committee will serve a variety of sandwiches. Free food is available in Leisure World to eligible residents who are 60 years or older through Community Action Partnership of Orange County (CAPOC), which has a monthly distribution site by Clubhouse 4. The next food distribution will be Jan. 18. Distributions are on the third Thursday of the month. Eligible seniors must live in Leisure World and be at least 60 years of age and meet income guidelines.

Leisure World Democratic Club’s monthly voter education sessions will begin again on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 1 p.m. These sessions are being relaunched as a component of the club’s efforts to help voters better understand the importance of down-ballot races in the upcoming 2024 elections. The Leisure World Humanists will meet Sunday, Jan. 7, at 10:30 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Club President Dave Silva will give a Powerpoint presentation on the history and future of retirement. Silva has been president of the Leisure World Democratic Club and ran for State Assembly in this district in 2004. He also served on the executive board of the Orange County Democratic Party.
