CLASSICAL MUSIC PERFORMANCE Violinist Ken Aiso, cellist Jerome Kessler and pianist Valeria Morgovskaya will perform Sunday, July 28, at 3 p.m., at Community Church. The performance will feature music by Suk, Azarashvilli, and Beethoven. Tickets are $20; $15 for seniors and students. If the ticket price is a challenge for any LW resident, call the church office at 562-431-2503 for sponsored tickets.

Art League announces July competition winners


The LW Art League met July 9 in Clubhouse 4. Art teacher Carmen Leslie gave a demonstration of portrait painting using pastel, focused on figure drawing and composition. Leslie donated her two paintings as prizes at the raffle, won by Hannah Rubinstein and Art Salazar. At the competition, Mickey Costello won best of show. JoAnn Rossi won the popular vote. New dancers welcome on Tuesdays


HUI O HULA Hui O Hula, which means dance group in Hawaiian, holds classes on Tuesdays upstairs in Clubhouse 6 at 1:15 p.m., and Thursdays at Veteran Plaza starting at 1 p.m. All people, regardless of skill level, are welcome to either or both classes. LWers to perform at church


LIVE PERFORMANCE LW residents Peter Bates and Yuri Lotakov will perform Sunday, July 28, at 2 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Long Beach at 607 E. 3rd St. The program features the music of American composers Carson Cooman, Richard Purvis and Joe Utterback. The concert will be concluded by George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue.” Carpooling is encouraged as parking is limited.
