The Saturday Social Bunco Club meets on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month in the Clubhouse 3 Lobby. The next meeting will be Aug. 10. Sign-in begins at 1 p.m. and is $5. Marv Jones aces No. 9 at Guys and Gals Tournament


GUYS AND GALS GOLF TOURNAMENT The Guys and Gals Tournament was played on July 31 in lovely, sunny conditions. A total of 27 teams—54 players—competed on the 18 holes. After the tournament, a potluck luncheon was held at the Clubhouse 2 picnic area. Delicious dishes and desserts were brought by the players and hot dogs were provided by the Men’s Club. LW Women’s Golf Club


Forty-four women played the Turtle Lake Golf course on July 30 for the weekly 7:30 a.m. Tuesday tournament. Play for the day was low gross and low net plus the players hit from the blue tees. The blue tees are normally where the men tee off from. The women usually hit from the red tees. A flight winners: Low gross: Lisa Kim, 27; low net: Veronica Chang and Sandy Derouin, 26. In Memoriam Gerald R. ….


In Memoriam Gerald R. “Jerry” Brady Gerald R. “Jerry” Brady, longtime Leisure World resident with his partner, Patricia James, passed peacefully on Sunday, July 28, 2024. A devoted member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Jerry served on the church board, and as congregational President for 10 years. A career newspaperman, he spent 60 years in display advertising sales, working for local newspapers in Huntington Park, Downey and Norwalk, as well as the Los Angeles Herald Examiner. Also active in community activities, Jerry coached youth teams with Downey Junior Athletic Association for many years, and served one term as president of the Downey Chamber of Commerce. Jerry loved community theatre; he acted in or directed countless productions over the years. A sports fan “extraordinaire,” he supported baseball, football, basketball, hockey... but, especially, arena football! He is survived by a son, daughter and grandson, as well Patricia’s son, daughter and grandchildren A memorial service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran and Saint Theodore’s Episcopal Church on Saturday, Aug.10, at 11 a.m. Luncheon to follow.
