Vanderwals celebrate 60 years


Cliff and Betty Vanderwal celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Sept. 3. The two were married in Pipestone, Minnesota, where they lived for a year before moving to California in 1965. Cliff and Betty lived in Lakewood, California, for 48 years, rasing their children. In 2015 they moved to Leisure World, where they currently reside in Mutual 11. Cliff and Betty have three children,

American Latino Club


The American Latino Club will meet Friday, Sept. 13, from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. in Clubhouse 2 to celebrate Mexican Independence Day with Mariachi Real San Jose and an El Dia de los Muertos presentation by Julia Cervantes-Espinoza, a bilingual children’s book author. She will offer a presentation that merges a dynamic reading of her book “Calavera, Calavera, What do You See?” in an interactive,experience.
