The Salvation Army comes Sept. 25 to pick up donations


On Wednesday, Sept. 25, the GRF and The Salvation Army will team up to fill six trucks with items donated by Leisure World residents. The trucks will be on site from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The trucks will be located at six locations scattered throughout Leisure World: Clubhouse 1, 2 and 4, the Amphitheater, and at the corners of Fairfield and Oakmont, and St. John and Del Monte. LW Community Emergency Response Team

LW Community Emergency Response Team


The LW Community Emergency Response Team (LW CERT) will hold a meeting on Friday, Sept. 27, in Clubhouse 3, Room 9, to discuss situational awareness and home safety. All residents are invited to hear guest speaker Sgt. Brian Gray of the Seal Beach Police Department present ways residents can be more aware of their surroundings in a variety of situations and making their homes more secure.

Learn a new line dance on first Thursdays of the month


JOYFUL LINE DANCE Joyful Line Dance Club meets on Thursday mornings in Clubhouse 2 from 10-10:30 for beginners, and from 10:30noon for intermediate dancers. The last 30 minutes of the class are dedicated to more advanced dances. Athletic or dancing shoes are required. On the first Thursday of the month, the instructors introduce a new dance. This month, members are learning “Elvis Medley”

Wa-Rite loses over 16 pounds as a club in one month


Female residents who want to find support on their weight-loss journey and meet like-minded people are welcome to stop by one of Wa-Rite’s meetings. The Wa-Rite is a women-only club and meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. Those dimes go to the person who lost the most weight that week. LW
