Resident-led Zoom lectures explore topics on astronomy and space


People interested in learning more about space, celestial bodies and how the universe works are invited to join free lectures taught by LW resident and retired physics/astronomy teacher Jim Johns on Fridays at 10 a.m. via Zoom. Every Wednesday, the Community Karaoke Club meets in Clubhouse 1 from 5:30-9:30 p.m. for a karaoke party. Singers gathered on Oct. 9. Karaoke night began with William Young, who gave the audience a strong performance with his song, followed by another hit tune with a toe-tappin’ rhythm sung by Ray Geierman. LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL CLUB On Saturday, Oct. 19, the Let the Good Times Roll Club will host an evening of entertainment and dancing in Clubhouse 2. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; the show starts at 6. ENTERTAINERS CLUB The Entertainers Club will present Harvest Moon, live in concert, on Friday, Oct. 25, from 7-8:30 p.m. in Clubhouse 4. Harvest Moon is a vocal/acoustic duo featuring Leisure World residents Vickie Van Ert and Mike Simpson, playing hits from the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s and more. Residents and their guests are invited to bring refreshments. The show is free, but tips are appreciated.
