On Feb. 11, LWers enjoyed a grand opening of the Vandervoort's Insurance Agency, GRF's new lessee, in the former Cafe area. Sherry Vandervoort, a dedicated Medicare consultant and agent, and her daughter specialize in finding suitable Medicare plans that align with people's unique needs. Members of Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce and other Medicare brokers were also in attendance.

LW BICYCLE GROUP LW Bicycle Group members enjoyed breakfast at its preferred winter eatery-the El Dorado Golf Course restaurant in Long Beach. GOLDEN AGE FOUNDATION Residents can take advantage of the Golden Age Foundation’s (GAF) free income tax service, where an IRS-certified volunteer will prepare and file tax returns for full-year California residents. This AARP program is sponsored by the GAF and is provided free-of-charge every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m.-noon in The Knowledge and Learning Center in Clubhouse

LW CERT SAFETY CLASS Join the LW Community Emergency Response Team (LW CERT) for a safety meeting on Friday, Feb. 28, in Clubhouse 3, Room 9, at 9 a.m. This month’s safety class will be taught by LW CERT President Catherine O’Brien on how to be better prepared for an earthquake. Topics will cover personal safety equipment, ways to make home safer, getting a go-bag together, among other preparations.
