Unattended grill sparks fire; burns patio roof in Mutual 15
FIRE SAFETY
On Feb. 8 around 5:35 p.m., an unattended barbecue grill caught fire on a Mutual 15 patio, damaging a storage closet, nearby walls and the unit’s patio roof. Four fire engines reported to the scene and suppressed the fire. No injuries were reported.

GRF director known for love of square dancing and card-making dies at 95
OBITUARY
Ella Blankenship Walton, 95, a GRF director representing Mutual 2 from 2008-2012, died Feb. 1, 2026, at Rowntree Gardens of Stanton. Born on July 13, 1930, Walton was known for her leadership, compassion, and love of square dancing, fine needlework and cycling.
She led a rich and fulfilling life that touched many: “Ella was a very beloved neighbor, and she will be greatly missed.
Police educate residents on California golf cart laws

Drop off donations at Amphitheater Feb. 21
SALVATION ARMY
Donations of furniture, clothing and household goods will be collected on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at the Amphitheater bus hub.
The bi-monthly collection event is organized by The Salvation Army and the Golden Age Foundation to provide a convenient way for residents to donate unwanted items. Events are held on the second Saturdays of even-numbered months.
