THE WOMAN'S CLUB OF LEISURE WORLD The Woman’s Club of Leisure World will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 4, in Clubhouse 2. The doors will open at 1 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 1:30. The Trump inauguration celebration on Martin Luther King Jr. Day was held in Clubhouse 1 with over 50 people in attendance. All enjoyed three and a half hours of the televised event. Club members hosted prospective members with refreshments and a free raffle of Trump memorabilia. It was a high-energy event with many prayers for the nation and much clapping, hollering, and the making of shared memories.

On Jan. 22, over 70 LW Democrats gathered to meet with immigration attorney Jimmy Pham to discuss the probable consequences of the president’s plans for mass deportations of migrants. Pham is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. He is also a candidate in a Feb. 22 special primary election to replace Janet Nguyen as District 36 representative in the California Senate.

The Leisure World Humanist Association will meet on Sunday, Feb. 2, in Clubhouse 3, Room 1, at 10:30 a.m. Charles Darwin’s landmark book, “The Origin of Species,” was published in 1859.
