Seal Beach City Council delays vote on water and sewer rates

At a July 14 public hearing, the Seal Beach City Council voted to delay its decision on whether to increase the city’s water and sewer rates. Council members are expected to cast their votes on the rate hikes at an Aug. 11 meeting, where they will continue the hearing. Ratepayers will have until the end of that hearing to submit protest letters.

Community Speed Limit: 25 MPH
The speed limit in Leisure World is 25 miles per hour, which aligns with the state’s speed limit for business or residential districts, school zones, playground areas and senior facilities.
The purpose of the 25 mile-per-hour limit in residential areas is to enhance safety for both pedestrians and drivers. Lower speeds significantly reduce the risk of accidents and injuries, especially in residential
Seal Beach Lions Community Fish Fry
The 81st Annual Seal Beach Lions Community Fish Fry will be held July 19-20 in Eisenhower Park by the Seal Beach Pier. Bands will play on Saturday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
Besides the famous Lions’ fish and chips, there will also be bratwurst and Cajun sausage sandwiches along with jumbo hot dogs. Ice cold beer, wine and wine-a-ritas will be served from the beer garden.
LW intersection project nears completion
The intersection of Golden Rain Road and St. Andrews Drive will soon feature a four-way stop, a dedicated pedestrian crossing phase and protected left turn lanes for east- and westbound Golden Rain Road.
The GRF Board approved the project in July 2024 in keeping with the findings of a traffic study to improve safety features at the intersection. The project is expected to be complete by the end
