Cribbage Club plays Tuesdays


The Cribbage Club meets every Tuesday at noon in Clubhouse 1. Refreshments are served each week from noon-12:15, and anyone arriving by 12:15 will be assured a place to play. One dollar is collected from each player and those finishing in the top four scores will be awarded prize money the following week. Tournament Poker Club to play Sept. 6 in CH 6


Those who would like to play a fun and friendly game of Texas Hold ‘Em for a $5 buy-in should make plans to play with the Tournament Poker Club on Saturday, Sept. 6, in Clubhouse 6. Regular tournaments are held on the first three Saturdays of every month and start with coffee/ treats and registration at 10 a.m. Cards are in the air at 10:30. There is no late seating. Free Beginner Pickleball Lesson


A free beginner pickleball lesson will be offered on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 10 a.m. The class is designed for first time players. It will cover basic strokes, rules, scoring and strategy, and will prepare players to start a lifetime of fun and laughter on the pickleball court. Paddles and balls will be available. LW Bocce Club to kick off fall league with music


The LW Bocce Club will start its fall league on Sunday, Sept. 7. All four leagues are full at this time and the new schedules have been emailed to all players. To kick off the season, the club is sponsoring an afternoon of acoustic music by two members of the Hollywood Stones at Veterans Plaza on Friday, Sept. 5, at 2:30 p.m. David and David will be playing Beatles and Rolling Stones tunes

If it’s Tuesday, that means the LW Women’s Golf Club has a nine hole tournament. Golfers are divided up in flights according to their handicap. Flight A has a low number for a handicap. Flight D has the highest number. Aug. 9 brought thirty-six women to the golf course. Play for the day was low gross, low net, and fewest putts. The LW Chess Club meets every Friday in Clubhouse 3, Room 7, from 1-4:30 p.m. Beginners lessons are available. Keep Alzheimer’s and dementia at bay by practicing this strategy game, proven to improve short and long-term memory and critical thinking skills.
