The Good News Singers are seeking new members for their gospel choir. Residents are invited to enjoy a pre-concert Party on the Plaza on Saturday, Oct. 1, as the Long Beach Symphony opens its Classical Series season. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. with a selection of food trucks, cocktails, fire pits and lounge seating by the fountain. Instructor Elizabeth Butterfield will introduce residents to the fascinating and creative world of mixed-medium arts. An interesting variety of techniques such as acrylic painting, collage, finger painting and the assembling of unique found objects will all be explored. Several prize winners were part of Cribbage Club this week. Donna Gorman and Hoppy Hopkins tied for first place with 845 of a possible perfect score of 847. Gene Smith took second place with 840 while Pat Fellers placed third with 835. Evelyn Ingram and Sharon Rutigliano tied for fourth place with 822. Jim Kaspar lost all seven games played. The club celebrated birthdays with two of its members.
