Tom Owen scores a hole-in-one on hole No. 1


GUYS AND GALS TOURNAMENT A warm, humid morning greeted the golfers in the Guys and Gals Tournament on Sept. 17. Thirty teams of one man and one woman teed off starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Turtle Lake Golf Course. Each team competed for best net scores (gross score minus handicap), as well as four circle holes (shots within a 5-foot radius rewarded), and two closest to the pin challenges.

LW Cares Fund distributes first financial awards to residents


The Leisure World Cares Fund issued its first financial awards last week. The awards amount to a subsidy toward a resident’s Mutual homeowner’s fees of $200 per month for a 12-month period. Awards are made to residents who are on low fixed incomes where increases in those fees have stressed their finances and threaten their ability to remain in the community.
