West Nile virus detected in LW mosquito sample


VECTOR CONTROL The Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District (OC Vector) has confirmed mosquito samples infected with West Nile virus in Seal Beach. Mosquitoes tested on Oct. 2 at two testing sites, one in Leisure World and one at the Naval Weapons Station, came back positive for West Nile virus. Inspectors will be out in the area to check known sources of mosquito breeding

The Emergency Information Council will hold its eighth free vital document scanning event on Monday, Oct. 20, from 1:30-3 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 8. Residents can bring their wills, stock and membership certificates, medical power of attorney documents and other important papers to be scanned onto a free USB flash drive. Driver’s license and credit cards will be copied and scanned as well.

Street repairs may cause delays on Oakmont and St. Andrews Drive


GRF ANNUAL PAVING PROJECT Asphalt repairs on Oakmont Road and St. Andrews Drive will begin today, Oct. 16. Roads will not be closed, but construction crews will be present, and traffic may be diverted. Oakmont Road repairs will affect traffic in east- and westbound lanes from Oct. 16-24. St. Andrews Drive repairs north of the traffic light will begin Oct. 22 and last through Nov. 14.
