Men’s Golf Club


The first September Leisure World Men’s Golf Club Tournament was played on Sept. 13 on the Turtle Lake Golf Course. Two groups of three flights of variously skilled golfers vied for best net scores (gross score minus handicap), plus four circle holes (shots within a 5-foot circle rewarded) and two closest-to-the-pin challenges. Forty-seven women golfers played in the weekly Women’s Golf Club tournament on Sept. 12. They played for low gross, low net and birdies. The tournament was also week one of the two week President’s Cup. ART LEAGUE The LW Art League met on Sept. 12 in Clubhouse 4. The guest demonstration artist and judge was Hillary Norcliffe, an art professor at Cal State Long Beach. Before the start of the demonstration, Carmen Leslie, LW Art League’s secretary, talked about a proposal to change the category system of the competition.
