On Sept. 22, the GRF Board approved a change to the Community Gardens policy that would decrease the annual plot rental fees from $150 to $75. Existing gardeners who paid the higher fee would receive a credit on their account. The new, lower fee is not yet in effect. The policy change must go through a 28-day notification period. The Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill


The worldwide earthquake drill known as the Great ShakeOut is Thursday, Oct. 16, at 10:16 a.m. Every Leisure World resident is encouraged to participate by practicing the “Drop, Cover and Hold-on” exercise. To react quickly in the event of a major earthquake, practice is key. People may only have a few seconds to protect themselves in an earthquake before strong shaking knocks them down.
