The American Legion Post and Auxiliary were invited by the principal of Furgeson Elementary School in Hawaiian Gardens to participate in a flag ceremony as part of its annual Veterans Day program. Lee and Sandy Esslinger and Carolyn van Aalst were honored to attend, fold the flag and explain all of the 13 folds to the students and faculty at the outdoor event which was also attended by school

Barbara Ferris turns 97 with friends and family


Barbara Ferris from Mutual 2 celebrated her 97th birthday with a large group of friends and family, who traveled from near and far to see her. Ferris’ daughter, Janet Sunet, and granddaughter, Jody Sunet planned and executed the fun event that included five generations of the Ferris family attending. The two orchestrated a potluck, featuring a catered taco truck, to come to Mutual 2 to be enjoyed
