On June 3, Mutual 5 resident Anna Derby spent the day at Disneyland with her two granddaughters, Alexandra and Rebekah Raphlings to enjoy grandma (halmonie in Korean) and granddaughters bonding day.
It was a priceless, precious time. The trio went on many adventurous rides together. Derby’s granddaughters are currently on summer break from college.
They ended the day with a Korean dinner

On Saturday, July 13, St. Isadore Historical Plaza in Los Alamitos will celebrate the Americas Under the Stars from 4 -9 p.m. Tickets are $80 and can be purchased online at stisidorehistoricalplaza.org and at the door. This upcoming celebration will reflect 37 countries of the Americas.

The Golden Age Foundation (GAF) will hold a battery recycling service on Tuesday, July 16, in the Clubhouse 2 parking lot from 10 a.m.-noon. GRF IDs are required.
The GAF will accept alkaline, carbon zinc, nickel cadmium (NiCd), nickel metal-hydride (NiMH), lithium ion (Li-Ion), lithium metal, silver oxide, button cell batteries and all other dry cell batteries.

The Velvetones are Leisure World’s own professional big band, playing Big Band Swing and jazz standards—music for dreaming and dancing—under the direction of Jeff Plum. The Velvetones perform at Clubhouse 4 on the first and third Sunday evenings at 6 p.m.

Leslie is an art teacher and has been conducting workshop classes in the Art Room of Clubhouse 4 on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. She teaches and demonstrates portrait painting with a live model in the workshop classes.
