After being part of the karaoke audience for years, mother-daughter team Lucy and Nancy Fitch sang “Sixteen Tons” for the audience. The happy crowd joined in singing the chorus. HUI O HULA Hui O Hula, the LW Hawaiian Dance Club, offers hula dance lessons weekly. Tuesday class meets upstairs in Clubhouse 6 at 1:15 p.m.; and Thursday class is given outdoors at Veterans Plaza, between Clubhouse 3 and the LW Library, starting at 1 p.m. All are welcome to dance or to audit the class. LW Woodshop

LW Woodshop


The LW Woodshop is located in Clubhouse 1 near the Main Gate. The facility is equipped with a variety of woodworking tools and state-of-the-art equipment, as well as supervisors that can help with small projects. The woodshop is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 a.m.-noon.

Last week, the Impaired Vision and Hearing Club celebrated summer with a luncheon. Dominos provided Hawaiian pizza and the Hui O Hula dancers provided entertainment. The club will meet again in September. Joyful’s summer dance party brought together dancers of all levels


Joyful Line Dance Club meets on Thursdays in Clubhouse 2 from 10-10:30 a.m. for beginners, 10:30-11 a.m. for intermediate dancers, and 11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for advanced dancers. Athletic or dancing shoes are required. On July 11, nearly 45 people participated in the club’s summer line dance party in celebration of its 10th anniversary.
