EARTHQUAKE PREP The LW Community Emergency Response Team (LW CERT) will hold a training class on what to do after a disaster strikes. The 4.4 earthquake that struck the greater Los Angeles area—and was felt in LW—on Aug. 12 is a reminder of the importance of preparing for an emergency. Food box program returns Aug. 23


SB LIONS CLUB Residents can get fresh produce in a 12-pound box for $10 on Friday, Aug. 23, at Clubhouse 6, from 10 a.m.-noon, courtesy of the Seal Beach Lions Club. All residents are encouraged to participate while supplies last. This event is cash only. Residents must present a GRF ID to receive a box (one box per GRF ID). This program is held once a month on the fourth Friday. Box

GOLDEN AGE FOUNDATION The Golden Age Foundation (GAF) will sponsor a Walk and Roll-A-Thon on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. starting in the Clubhouse 6 parking lot. Participants must pre-register (see form below). Fill it out and drop it off at the metal box in Clubhouse 6, or people can mail them to PO Box 2369, Seal Beach, CA 90740. Brian Brannon, public information officer for the Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District, will speak to the Sunshine Club on Friday, Aug. 23, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, at 10 a.m. Brannon has worked at OC Mosquito and Vector Control District for almost two years and enjoys helping keep OC residents safe from the diseases that vectors can spread. He has worked for the Orange County Healthcare
