The Feb. 10 meeting of the LW Art League featured mosaic artist Dawn Mendelson, who discovered mosaic almost by accident when she picked up an art store mosaic kit over 20 years ago. Originally working as a graphic designer, Mendelson found a new passion in pique assiette, a form of mosaic using recycled materials. RAINBOW COMMUNITY The Rainbow Community, along with the LGBTQ+ Center Long Beach Older Adult Program, will be sponsoring a St. Patrick’s Day barbecue potluck on Tuesday, March 17, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. It will be an afternoon of food, music and fun. Burgers and hot dogs will be provided, along with soda, water and lemonade. Attendees should bring a side dish for six. Don’t forget to wear green.
