Leisure Leggers’ founder and president Tom Pontac came in first in his age group at the Run in the New Year 5K event. At 89 years old, Pontac’s motto is “old age isn’t for sissies!” The Leisure Leggers is one of Leisure World’s oldest walking/ running clubs. Club membership drive is today


TABLE TENNIS CLUB The Table Tennis Club is having a membership drive today, Thursday, Jan. 15. Club officers will be available throughout the day to receive payment. On Jan. 5, nine stalwart Shuffleboard Club souls showed up for practice at 9 a.m. to play informally or to use separate lanes to work on a particular skill. The congregation of Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore of Canterbury Episcopal church approved the donation of a portion of their fundraising efforts to Leisure World Cares. Congregation Sholom will hold services via Zoom with Rabbi Eric Dangott on Friday, Jan. 16. at 6:30 p.m. Rabbi Mike Mymon will lead the hybrid service on Saturday, Jan. 17, in Clubhouse 3, Room 9, and on Zoom at 10 a.m. Saturday’s Torah reading will be Shemot. Shemot (Names) is the first Torah reading in the Book of Rabbi Mike Mymon Exodus. It describes the enslavement of the Israelites in Egypt.
