Free food is available in Leisure World to eligible residents who are 60 years or older through Community Action Partnership of Orange County (CAPOC), which has a monthly distribution site by Clubhouse 4. The next food distribution will be Oct. 21. Every third Thursday from 9-11 a.m., qualified people receive 40 pounds of food, including canned fruit, vegetables, meat, rice, juice, cereal and more.

There will be a general meeting of the Shuffleboard Club on Oct. 13 at 9 a.m. at the Clubhouse 1 picnic area outside the shuffleboard courts. Refreshments will be served. A board member will also be at the courts every Tuesday from 9-10 a.m. for practice or free play. Courts will remain open until 11 a.m. if there is enough interest.

Mark your calendar for Oct. 15 at 1 p.m., when the WC Table Top Games return to Clubhouse 2. Members should bring any number of ladies with them and any game they want. Anyone who does not have the game they want to play or who wants to set up a new table or join a different table should call Jan Krehbiel at (562) 431-8240. Each person pays $1, which goes toward the charities the Women’s Club supports

Dancing Feet Club hosts two events in Clubhouse 2. Both events are free, but wearing a mask is required to be admitted. Line dancing class and practice are every Monday from 7-9 p.m. Social (ballroom) dancing is the fourth Sunday of every month from 6-9:30 p.m. Bring your own snacks and drinks; no alcoholic drinks allowed. The LW Orchestra seeks a trombone player and a French horn player. It encourages anyone who has not played in several years to not let that fact scare them, adding that the group works with a wonderful conductor, Samuel Kim. Rehearsals are on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons in the Amphitheater with the stage doors open to simulate outdoor conditions. Those interested should contact Fred Reker
