The LW Republican Club will be set up its booth in support of the upcoming Seal Beach City Council, District 5 election, which will take place Jan. 31. The club will accept ballots from all residents and will deliver them to the Orange County Registrar of Voters office in Santa Ana, each day that the booth is open. The club booth will be open on Jan. 11, 16, 23, 25 and 30 from 10 a.m.-noon.

The regular American Legion Post 327 meetings will resume on Monday, Jan. 16. The board meeting will be held in Clubhouse 3, Room 3, at 12:30 p.m. The general meeting starts at 1:30 p.m. in the same location. All veterans are invited to attend the meetings. The GRF Valentine’s Day Dinner Dance, slated for Tuesday, Feb. 14, will return this year after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The romantic not-for-couples-only evening will begin at 6 p.m. in Clubhouse 2, with a sumptuous dinner of chicken piccata, garlic mashed potatoes, a steamed vegetable medley, Sonoma salad and chocolate mousse for dessert, catered by Country Gardens Caterers.

Classic rock, Motown and pop on Jan. 14 Vinyl Rock will be playing on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m. in Clubhouse 4. The Orange County based band consists of nine members who passionately perform classic rock, Motown and pop tunes primarily from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s. The band keeps the audience engaged, inviting them to participate in sing-alongs and by mingling with them on the dance

Cake and ice cream were served last Tuesday at Cribbage Club in celebration of Maureen Habel’s birthday. Potsy Frank provided refreshments. She and Maureen served all 54 club members present. Scores were high this week. Dave LaCascia took first place honors with a score of 842. Second place went to Drew Sargent with 841. Cleo Looney placed third with 840, and Franca Yeske placed fourth with 838.
