Joan Louise Muenzer passed peacefully on Thanksgiving Day at home in Leisure World with family at her bedside. Joan was born in Millvale, Pennsylvania, to Daniel and Marie Saul. Joan graduated from Millvale High School in 1950 and married her high school sweetheart, Bob Muenzer, in 1951. They were blessed with three children and moved to Long Beach, California, in 1955, following in the footsteps of her oldest sister, Melva. While Bob worked, Joan worked part-time for Van de Kamp’s bakery and was devoted to raising her children and keeping the household in impeccable order. Joan was highly organized and took great care of herself and everyone around her. She was known for her perfectly styled red hair, beautiful smile, generous heart, exercising daily, keeping her floors spotless, clipping coupons, her attention to detail and healthy homemade dinners. Joan was a deeply loved and admired member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Long Beach for 65 years. She served as a deacon, a leader of the church’s women’s group and an advocate for the church’s free after-school program to children of Long Beach called Rising TIDE.

Matilda Tsao passed away peacefully Dec. 16 at Los Alamitos Medical Center. The family welcomes any fun or serious story you have of Matilda. She was born Ma Chien-Ling in Guangdong Province on Oct. 18, 1928, and was adopted by Ma Chao Jun and Shen Hui Lian as a little girl. She lived in various places in Guangdong, Nanking, Chongqing and Hong Kong before sailing to San Francisco in 1949.Matilda went to Jinling College in Nanking, Ursuline College in Kentucky, and the University of Chicago in Illinois. She met her husband, Ching, in Chicago and was married there in June 1952. They moved to Los Angeles, driving cross-country while she pregnant with her daughter Debbie, who was born in Oct.1953. She had her son Jeff in May 1955. They lived in various places throughout Southern California including Los Angeles, Culver City, Palos Verdes, Seal Beach College Park, and Leisure World, where they moved in 1988.

Patricia “Patti” Drumm, 84, a 20-year resident of Mutual 12, passed away at home on Dec. 4. She was born and raised in Hawaii with her two sisters. She met and married a U.S. Marine and raised two sons in Southern California while working for the phone company.Patti retired from the phone company, remarried and moved to Carson City, Nevada, to enjoy her retirement. After the death of her husband Bud, she moved back to California and into Leisure World to be closer to her sons.Patti attended the Lutheran church, enjoyed many Leisure World activities and had many friends. She is survived by her son Keith.Patricia S. Drumm lived a good life, was a great mother and a good friend, and is sorely missed.

Diane Wasserman passed away Dec. 10. She was born on May 18, 1933, to Max and Molvin Mendelson in Oakland, California. She is survived by her daughter, Ronda, and her three grandsons: Jeremy, Beau and Shane. If you met her, you would know three things about her: she loved to dance, she loved to sing, and she loved to eat. She loved square dancing–really any dancing. She loved singing karaoke. Her go-to song was “Boots.” Her favorite food was spaghetti and chocolate in any form. She loved glittery, sparkly clothes and red lipstick. She didn’t know a stranger and was loved dearly by all of her friends. She was always on the go. She loved playing cards and games. She loved old classic movies and music and recently became quite addicted to the Hallmark Channel. She had a big beautiful smile and we will all miss her beyond words. The world will never be the same without her.

May Bell Horsley was born on Dec. 10, 1929, and passed away on Oct. 28 of this year.An Alabama native, she moved to Long Beach in 1951, where she raised her two sons. She was a resident of Leisure World since 2010.The photo was taken at her 85th birthday celebration in Clubhouse 4 enjoying Hui O Hula dancers. Her family is grateful to her friendly and caring neighbors at Mutual 4, the friendly visitors from Pathways and the kind services from Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed being on her patio, waving and smiling at those walking by.

t is with great sadness that we share this news with you: Lenee Dalton passed away on Nov. 2. She had just celebrated her 50th birthday. She was not feeling well and was admitted to the hospital on Saturday night. She was fighting an infection (not COVID). They were treating the infection aggressively, but it was too much for her to handle. Lenee was the kindest soul and had the biggest heart ever! She was a part of the Castlehead family for over 13 years. She worked in the Lakewood office and as a floater for many years before she became the branch manager at the Seal Beach office, where she conducted escrows for Leisure World. Lenee would do anything for anyone. She loved to bake and cook. She loved to craft, especially embroider shirts, bags and gifts. She loved holidays. On Tuesday, April 2, Russell Edwin Rosell, husband, father and grandfather, passed away in Seal Beach, California, at the age of 98 years.Russell was born on Oct. 4,1921, in Detroit, Michigan. Russell married Inez Weidenman on June 8, 1948. In 1958, he and Inez, along with their three children, Rosalind, Rita and Jeff, moved from Michigan to Southern California and lived in Garden Grove for 55 years. Sadly, Inez passed in December 2001. In time, Russell sold their Garden Grove home and moved to Leisure World Seal Beach where he lived for 17 years until his passing.Russell was a Mason Temple member for 77 years. He was a World War II veteran who served in the Army Air Force. Russell certainly experienced many world events and changes in the years of his long life.During his years in Leisure World, his favorite hangout was In-N-Out Burger in Seal Beach. He was a weekly familiar face to many of the employees there.Russell is survived by his son, Jeffrey Rosell, and his wife Debbie, and daughters Rita Rosell Johnson (her late husband Royal Johnson) and Rosalind Rosell Rawlings and her husband, Jack Rawlings. Russell also took great pride in his grandchildren, Matthew and Michelle Rosell. Majorie Meeker Kimbrell Oct. 1927-Aug. 2020 of the Britannia Club, where she took pictures of members during their club meetings. She also gave inspirational talks at the meetings. Her favorite foods were chocolate, Olallieberry pie, and waffles with strawberries and maple syrup. She often said that Peanut M& M’s were her secret to good health and a long life. Marjorie passed away peacefully on Aug. 12, surrounded by family. She is survived by sons Bob (Rosalie) and Steve (Ann); daughters Jill and Sue (Rick); grandchildren Sarah (Jeff), Peter (Jennifer), Scott, and Wes; greatgrandchildren Riley, Emily, Evan, Aubry, and Reymond, and many nieces and nephews. She had a big smile as well as a big heart and was a forever teacher. Marjorie Meeker Kimbrell was born on Oct. 11, 1927, to George Coleman Meeker and Marjorie Wyckoff Meeker in Los Angeles, California, after coming to California in a Model T Ford from Salem, Oregon. She was the youngest of three children, with brother John and sister Mary preceeding her. After studying literature and philosophy and receiving a bachelor’s degree from USC, she married Robert Kimbrell in 1949. They moved to Downey in 1951, where they raised four children. The family went on many camping vacations and played games and sports together. They attended the Downey United Methodist Church. She enjoyed being a mother (Mom), grandmother (Grammarj), great-grandmother (G.G., a.k.a. Great Grammarj), and aunt (Aunt Marjie). She was an avid tennis player and bridge player. She loved the beach, wearing scarves, flying kites, gardening, making greeting cards, stamping and quilting. Her favorite things to do involved being in her children’s school activities, a Girl Scout leader, trainer of leaders, substitute teacher, tutor, ballroom dancer, and being a member of the Dancin’ Grandmas. She loved Dixieland Jazz and the Long Beach Municipal Band. She lived in Leisure World since 2002. She was a member

Mary Joyce ( Pressley) Mackey passed peacefully on Nov. 6 in Laguna Niguel, California, surrounded by family. She is survived by brother Alton Pressley; children Sandra Lander (Hans), David Huff (June), Terri Nader (George); six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Born in 1931 in Talladega, Alabama, Mary was the oldest of Lucille and Ural Pressley’s 10 children. Raised in the Baptist church, she grew up cooking, milking cows and tending to her siblings. Married in 1956 to her true love, they moved the next year to California, where she spent the rest of her life. During her life, Mary worked as a switchboard operator, in clothing sales and factories, as a receptionist and traffic guard, as well as an emergency dispatcher at Leisure World, where she lived for almost 25 years. She retired at 82. She enjoyed cooking for family, singing in the choir, dancing to country music and doing hair for friends and family, and she took comfort from reading the Bible. Traveling became a passion later in life. Her adventures included going to Hawaii and several cruises, the last being to the Mediterranean at age 80. Mary was preceded in death by husbands William, Brice and Richard as well as a greatgrandson, Cody. Her joyful spirit and big hugs were loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
