Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore Canterbury

On Sunday, Oct. 11, the congregations of Redeemer Lutheran Church and St. Theodore of Canterbury Episcopal Church will celebrate the 20th Sunday after Pentecost at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Murray Finck will preside over the Holy Communion service at 13564 St. Andrews Drive in Leisure World. All are welcome to join.

This month, Karen Ford will be the lesson reader and Carol Costello will be the prayer leader. People will meet in the Fellowship Hall after the service for coffee, tea, cookies and snacks. The congregations are still collecting non-perishable food for those in need.

Bible study will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at noon downstairs in the Fellowship Hall. The class will be augmented with episodes in season two of “The Chosen.”

The Holiday Bazaar will be held on Oct. 22-23 from 9 a.m.3 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Volunteers meet every Monday in October at 10 a.m. in the downstairs Fellowship Hall to do the final preparations. Projects with directions, guidance and all the materials will be provided. There is also a need for cookies for the Bazaar weekend. People can bring baked cookies or other treats anytime during the week of Oct. 18.

The Gospel lesson for this week is from Matthew 22:1-14. It is a story about a wedding banquet. God sends invitations to all people to join. People must find the joy and the urgency in God’s invitation and take the steps necessary to become apart of the celebration.
