Debbie Bollinger Mutual 3 Editor:
I am writing to express strong concern regarding the handling of the management reorganization and $600,000 wage reduction item from the Sept. 22 GRF Board meeting. While individual personnel details require confidentiality, major strategic restructurings and budget cuts impact the entire community and warrant shareholder awareness. Deciding these matters in closed door executive sessions undermines the board’s commitment to transparency.
Focusing budget reductions strictly on management wages to offset broader inflation unfairly penalizes staff. Furthermore, board members are volunteers who should consult qualifi ed HOA labor management experts for such decisions. Less disruptive measures, such as attrition or leaving open positions unfilled, should be prioritized over targeted cuts.
I urge the Board to improve communication with shareholders by explaining the overall process, goals, and credentials of any advising experts without disclosing confidential individual details. Shareholders deserve a transparent understanding of decisions affecting our community. Lois Corrigan Mutual 15 Editor’s Note: The GRF Board of Directors is committed to its established values and implementation of its vision and mission for the Leisure World community. The Board seeks legal advice as needed.
