Join the meeting to learn how to age on your own terms
SUNSHINE CLUB
Michelle Wells, author of “On Your Terms: Staying Connected Throughout Life,” will speak to the Sunshine Club on Friday, Oct. 2, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, at 10 a.m. Refreshments will be served at the meeting.
During the meeting, Wells will ask, “What life do you want to design in the years ahead, and how will you build it?” For some people, it’s traveling. For others, it’s golf, hiking, playing pickleball, learning something new, spending time with the grandkids, or having the energy and ability to say “yes” when something interesting comes along.
Wells asks LWers to look at how they are actually showing up in their lives, and bridge that with the passions they want to sustain. The foundation lies in knowing which abilities support the way people want to live, and then actively paying attention to them.
Drawing on psychology, Wells’ graduate-level research on personality and the Myers-Briggs framework and her experience working in physical therapy settings, she explores how individual ways of engaging with the world can help people recognize what is meaningful, energizing, and worth sustaining over the years.
Her “Small Adventures” concept brings that thinking into everyday life: finding simple, enjoyable ways to keep moving, learning, creating, connecting; and above all, paying attention.
All shareholders are welcome. The Sunshine Club requires no membership fees, but donations are appreciated. For more information, contact Anna Derby at 562-301-5339.
