Display pieces for ‘Lord of the Rings’ themed wedding built in LW Woodshop
LW WOODSHOP
Leisure World resident Dena Frank’s daughter, Shira, and her husband, Isaiah, held a beautiful three-day, “Lord of the Rings”-themed wedding celebration at a resort in Idyllwild. The festivities included a whimsical costume tea party, followed by a traditional Chuppah wedding ceremony.
What made the celebration even more special was that several of the reception’s featured display pieces were handcrafted in the Leisure World Woodshop.
With the guidance and expertise of Ed Mitchell, one of the Woodshop’s talented and dedicated supervisors, a Leisure World resident built a stunning collapsible wooden wine rack.
The custom-designed piece held 44 champagne glasses and then was modified to display personalized crystal keepsakes that guided guests to their reception tables. Theme-matching dessert pedestals were also handcrafted in the Woodshop, adding another distinctive and personal touch to the celebration.
The Leisure World Woodshop is open to both beginners and experts alike and offers professionalquality equipment, knowledgeable volunteers, and a welcoming environment to help bring creative ideas to life. This wedding is just one inspiring example of the craftsmanship and community spirit that flourish within the shop.
Woodshop hours are Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m.-noon, when a supervisor is available.
