Wa-Rite posts 15-pound loss in a week
Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Fridays from 9-10 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. For support on a weight-loss journey, women are welcome to stop by at 8:15 to weigh in and complete the registration paperwork.
On Aug. 14, members learned that the club lost a total of 15.5 pounds in the past week with Linda Nye as the biggest loser with a 2.5-pound loss. Nye said as a result of breaking an ankle, she ate oatmeal with blueberries for antioxidants and to speed up the recovery. She also avoided sweets and bread while letting her body heal, fulie Campbell earned her master’s degree in goal weight.
Joyce Brannon spoke about benefits of turmeric. They include brain, joint and cognitive health, breaking down toxins, detoxifying blood and more. While using turmeric as a spice is very safe, taking high doses of it as a supplement may cause gallstones and interfere with blood thinners, diabetes drugs and chemotherapy. High doses of it may also cause upset stomach or lower iron absorption.
The weekly food for thought was: “Slow progress is better than no progress. Will it be easy? No. Will it be worth it? Absolutely!”
