American Latino Club Celebration

The American Latino Club will celebrate Mexican Independence Day on Friday, Sept. 11, from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. in Clubhouse 2. All are welcome.

There will be food, fun, dancing and live music provided by Mariachi Real San Jose. As part of the celebration, the club will also share two videos showcasing the history of Mexican Independence Day and “El Grito” (the cry), the historical significance of the revolution surrounding Mexico’s independence.

A Mexican meal will be provided by Tacos Factory with four meal choices. All meals include Mexican rice, beans, a beverage choice of coffee, lemonade or tea and rice pudding (arroz con leche) for dessert. The four meal choices are two beef (asada) tacos, two fish (pescado) tacos, one chicken (pollo) burrito or one pork (al pastor) burrito. The cost of the lunch is $22 for members and $25 for guests.

People should submit payment and meal choice to club Treasurer Rachel Fullum by dropping it off in her mailbox at 1371 Oakmont Road, 150L, Seal Beach, CA 90740. If by U.S. mail, allow 9-12 days for delivery. Checks should be made payable to the American Latino Club. All payments and meal choices are due no later than Monday, Sept. 7, by 3 p.m. No late orders will be accepted. Late comers can bring their own lunch to the meeting for $5 to include beverages. No walk-ins on the day of this event will be accepted to provide an accurate count for food and drink preparation. People are encouraged to dress in traditional Mexican attire, or the flag’s colors of red, green and white.
