Radio Communications Training
Those who would like to learn more about radio communications can attend a training on Thursday, Aug. 27, at 10 a.m. in the Clubhouse 3 Learning Center, presented by Marty Williams of the Emergency Information Council.
This training is open for those who want to become a Family Radio Service (FRS) or General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) communications volunteer during an emergency in Leisure World and those who want to brush up past training. A limited number of radios will be available for students to use.
The training will go over:
• Basic radio functions and operations.
• Leisure World call-in communications protocol.
• Battery care and maintenance.
• The do’s and don’ts of radio communications.
• Outdoor radio practice.
• How to obtain a GMRS license.
• How to obtain a GMRS radio from the Emergency Information Council.
Space is available on a firstcome, first-served basis, so plan to arrive early.
