Doris Anderson passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, in Seal Beach, California, at 94 years old.
Doris was born Jan. 1, 1932 in Detroit to Everett and Marie Sultz. She was predeceased by her sister, Janet (Hayes) Crew and her parents.
Our mom lived what might have seemed like an ordinary life, but her steady presence, her unmatchable organizational skills, her incredible green thumb, her impeccable writing and her passion for her pets held our world together and she was no ordinary person. She graduated from Eastern Michigan, University and married Dr. Tom Anderson, working as a school teacher to put him through Veterinary College at Michigan State University. Together they lived in Brighton, Michigan and built a veterinary practice, a home on a small lake, and a life filled with four children, horses, cows, gardens, and whatever injured or unwanted animal found its way to their door.
Later in life as a single woman she moved from Brighton to California to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren. She volunteered her time and lived a life filled with friends, family, and always her beloved dog.
Doris is survived by her four children: Bill Anderson (Deb), of Columbia, Montana; Karin Gendron-Deely (Charlie) of Petaluma, California, Mike Anderson (Marie), of Brighton, Michigan, and Ann Elliott (Tim), of Long Beach, California; her six grandchildren Chris Gendron (Stefanie) of Elk, Washington, Matt Gendron (Michele) of Cotati, California, Mitchell Anderson and Carly Anderson of Brighton, Michigan, Nicholas Elliott of San Diego, California, Natalie Elliott of Long Beach, California, and four great-grandchildren Cash, Trinity, Freyja and Devin Gendron.
We'll remember her in the everyday moments—like having a cup of coffee and chatting over the paper at the table, family gatherings or hanging on the patio and will miss her love and presence in those moments. So many of her lifelong friends were gone too soon, but she carried their memories with her always.
