PROJECT NOTICE

On July 29, an underground irrigation line broke in Mutual 2 near Buildings 46 and 47, causing a 100-foot spray that doused the area in water, silt and rocks, according to Mutual 2 Director Teri Nugent.

Service Maintenance plumbers quickly responded to the scene, where they attempted to stop the water flow, in unison with crews from the OC Fire Authority, Seal Beach Police Department and Seal Beach Public Works. Ultimately it was Public Works that located the underground shut-off valve on Merion Way, stopping the flow of water. Service Maintenance staffers Rafael Gutierrez, Javier “Bear” Moreno, Martin Sanchez, Alex Ramirez and Johnny Ramirez then cleared the area of debris and reconnected water to all four affected buildings before nightfall.

“We even got a rainbow,” Nugent said.
