LW Korean Community Church LW Korean Community Church

LW Korean Community Church (LWKCC) holds a worship service every Sunday at 11:30 a.m. in the sanctuary at 14000 Church Place. The early morning prayer service is held in the sanctuary at 6 a.m. Tuesday-Saturday.

On June 26, LWKCC held a meeting to approve Rev. Kim Sun-tae as an associate pastor and subsequently signed a memorandum of understanding with Siloam Eye Hospital in Korea for missionary and volunteer work.

This agreement was established to jointly carry out a ministry of sharing love and the Gospel with the visually impaired—both domestically and abroad—grounded in the scripture in Isaiah 60:1, saying “Arise, shine, for your light has come,” and the church’s confession of faith that “Jesus Christ is the light of life.”

Rev. Sun-tae lost his sight at the age of 10 during the Korean War. He overcame despair through faith and embarked on the path of pastoral ministry. Having dedicated his life to the welfare of the visually impaired and medical missionary work, he was honored with the Ramon Magsaysay Award—often referred to as the “Nobel Prize of Asia”—in recognition of his contributions.

Through this Memorandum of Understanding, LWKCC and Siloam Eye Hospital have agreed to collaborate on the following ministry initiatives:

• Ongoing cooperation for mission and service.

• Mutual exchange of human and material resources.

• Hosting charity concerts and joint events for the visually impaired.

• Joint implementation of medical missions and welfare projects.

• Continued consultation and agreement on specific future projects.

An official from LWKCC stated, “This Memorandum of Understanding is not merely a business agreement but a meaningful pledge of partnership in faith, dedicated to fulfilling the mission of life and love entrusted to us by God.” They added, “We will continue to do our utmost to be a church that shares the light of Jesus Christ with the world and brings hope to neighbors in need.”

Senior Pastor Yong emphasized that the church’s identity lies in the cross, and that Jesus Christ always stands at the center of it. Jesus bore the cross in complete obedience to the will of his Heavenly Father—rather than his own will—and upon that cross, he fulfilled the greatest and most perfect love for all people.

Pastor Yong said, “We must become a church that serves and edifies one another through praise, prayer, worship, and beautiful fellowship, and that puts the love of Jesus into practice in our daily lives.”
