The first GRF Board meeting under the leadership of President Jeff Mulqueen on June 23 offered shareholders an interesting look at how the new board intends to work together moving forward.

Rather than immediately focusing on projects or agenda items, Mulqueen used the meeting to establish expectations, encourage communication, and create a framework for collaboration among board members. Directors were invited to share what they hoped to accomplish, what support they needed from the president, and what expectations they had for the board as a whole. The discussion provided valuable insight into the priorities and goals of the newly seated board.

The board also introduced a new process designed to improve communication with shareholders. When residents address the board during meetings, appropriate staff or board representatives will now follow up afterward to provide information, answers, or updates related to the concerns raised. This additional level of responsiveness has the potential to strengthen communication and help ensure shareholders feel heard.

The meeting was less about debate and more about defining roles, establishing expectations, and setting the tone for the year ahead.

It was encouraging to see a thoughtful and organized discussion focused on teamwork, accountability, communication, and service to the community.

The Japanese American Club hosted a free piano concert in Clubhouse 2 on June 20. Member Vera Rathje played beautifully, and we are so thankful for all the time and practice she put into making her performance so memorable. We are also deeply grateful for the support of all who attended and those who so generously helped make this event a success.
