The Photo Arts Club will meet July 9 in Clubhouse 3, Room 9, at 1:30 p.m. The assignment is to photograph windows and doors. Members should submit their best three photos to benbenjamins@hotmail.com by July 6.

At the June meeting, President Regine Schumacher asked members to come up with photo topic ideas for the next meeting, in hopes of creating a topic list for the months ahead. Photographers find these lists very helpful.

Les Coombes showed three photos of penguins, one depicting a “rockhopper,” which is a type of crested penguin known for its yellow head plumes; another photo of a delightful pair of penguins and another one that showed a lovely reflection of the bird.

For the June meeting, photographers were asked to submit images in black and white or sepia. Ben Benjamins displayed the submissions. He emphasized that it is important that the picture does not appear grey and that the details should be distinct and not get lost in black or white areas. He demonstrated different contrasts, which was very educational. The submissions were excellent.

Individuals with technical or other questions will be paired with someone who can help them for individual discussion after the meeting. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call Regine Schumacher at 562-430-7978.
