LW Baptist
LW Baptist meets every Sunday at 10 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 2. This Sunday, June 28, the congregation will learn how the Bible makes the value of human life clear.
God requires capital punishment for capital crimes because he made people in his own image and likeness. He reminds the prophet Jonah of this fact when the ancient city of Nineveh, threatened with destruction, repented and God spared the metropolis. God questioned the prophet, “Should I not spare Nineveh that great City in which are more than 120,000 persons who cannot distinguish their right and left hands and also much livestock?”
Another time, God says, “‘As I live,’ says the Lord, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked but that the wicked turn from their wicked way and live.’” God desires the death of no one. The Apostle Peter writes, “God is not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.” And Jesus says, “What shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his own soul?” That is why he gives people the gospel. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
