Guys and Gals Tournament
Twenty-six teams competed in the June Guys and Gals tournament June 17. A cool and overcast morning greeted the players competing for best net scores (gross score minus handicap), plus four circle holes (shots within a 5-foot radius rewarded), and two closest to the pin challenges.
The 1,680-yard, par 54 Turtle Lake Golf Course was in excellent condition, which allowed 16 of the teams to shoot at or below net par. Lowest gross score was a tie at 1 under 53 by Dave LaCascia and Nancy Smith, and Bill Lyons and Yasmin Mereli. Best net score was an 8 under 46 by Rod Osgood and Laura Garcia, followed by Kevin Linstedt and Mary Ann Moore, and Scott Tuchfarber and Pam Krug at 7 under 47.
Closest to the pin for the men on the eighth hole was Lyons, and on the 17th it was Hyon Shin; for the women it was Patti Littrell and Hae Lee. There were seven circle holes and 37 birdies.
A flight winners: LaCascia and Smith; first place; Bruce Bowles and Linda Herman, second; Lyons and Mereli, and Mike Mayfield and Nancy Tye, third.
