Club to participate in Multicultural Fest
LW ARIRANG CLUB
The LW Arirang Club will represent Korean-American culture in a performance at the Multicultural Festival on July 18 at the Amphitheater, starting at 7:30 p.m.
Arirang is Korea’s most traditional folk song, serving as the unofficial national anthem of Korea. When Koreans hear the song, it evokes deep emotions of love, separation, longing and resilience. Korean drums are featured in the song.
The Leisure World Arirang Club was recently established to promote Korean culture through traditional music and dance. The club’s main goal is to foster understanding and harmony between different ethnic groups while strengthening the emotional connection among Korean community. The club allows residents to learn to play the Jindo and Nanta Korean drums. Playing these drums helps participants improve muscle coordination, memory and cognitive functions. It promotes movement, good coordination, concentration and emotional expression.
The Golden Age Foundation is hosting the Multicultural Festival, which will feature 90 minutes of entertainment. Residents of Hawaiian, Filipino, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and Americans decent will perform. For more information, text 562-301-5339.
