LW Community Emergency Response Team
The LW Community Emergency Response Team (LW CERT) will hold a safety class about water on Friday, July 24, at 9 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 9.
At the meeting, people will learn how much water each person in a unit needs daily, plus ways to sterilize contaminated water. The club will talk about how to access water from a water heater and how to utilize the water in the blue plastic 50-gallon containers located in the laundry areas. There will be a demonstration on how to create a sanitation area in a unit.
At May’s safety class on power, several LW CERT members— Simon Housman, Nick Massetti and Fara Q. Macartney, along with GRF Safety Manager Eloy Gomez—explained what residents needed to know about generating power in an outage. The program also covered information on gas, propane and solar generators. Macartney cooked hot dogs for the class using canned Sterno. The giveaway was a book called “Dark State,” won by Bonnie Fruend. The fictional book follows several families and individuals as they cope with the compete loss of power in California.
