Rainbow Sisters changes name
Officially recognized by the Golden Rain Foundation in 2014, the Rainbow Sisters was founded to provide a warm, supportive space for the lesbian women of Leisure World. As Leisure World has grown and evolved, the need to expand the club’s reach and create a more inclusive environment that celebrates diversity in all its forms was recognized. In mid-2024, the Rainbow Community extension was born to provide activities for the larger LGBTQ family. Given its success, The Rainbow Sisters has now officially become the Rainbow Community, with over 130 members and growing.
The Rainbow Community will present a livestream of VOX Femina’s “I Too Sing America” on Sunday, June 14, at 4 p.m. in the Clubhouse 3 Learning Center. The show is a moving musical journey through the distinct voices that shape the nation. From Native American poetry and Appalachian folk song to musical traditions from today’s immigrant communities, this program embodies the vibrant tapestry of American identity. Featuring new commissions by composers B.E. Boykin and Carlos Cordero, this concert calls on each American to reflect honestly on their shared history, and dream boldly of collective future. A $5 donation is suggested. All are invited to attend.
