President’s Council Meeting Recap
THE PRESIDENTS’ COUNCIL May 6, 2026 Clubhouse 4 and Zoom Tele Video Conference The regular monthly meeting of the Presidents’ Council of Leisure World Seal Beach was convened at 1:30 p.m. by President Rich Carson, on Wednesday, May 6, in Clubhouse 4, Zoom Tele-Video Conference, and YouTube Live.
The following is a recap:
• Presidents’ Council meeting minutes of April 1 were approved by the Council to stand as written.
• GRF President Linda Herman provided updates on GRF April board meeting. A discussion was held regarding trust-point cards given to residents when interacting with staff. Residents have the opportunity to give feedback on the service they received. Dr. Pest was contracted to be the pest control service provider for a three-year period. A replacement of a faceting machine will occur in the lapidary room; several governing documents were set back to GRF committee for further review; the GRF candidate guide and the authorized spokesperson documents have been updated. The facilities member service operation and financial charges have been updated as well.
• Recreation Director, Jesse Cripps, provided information amphitheater shows and safety protocols being enforced for upcoming theater/show season.
• Security Services Director, Victor Rocha, provided information to the council regarding emergency pet care and provided an option called pet life, a resourceful way to keep your pet safe and identified during an emergency.
• Seal Beach Firefighter, Joshua Banta, provided information on Leisure World Seal Beach ICE HAM sheet. It stands for In Case of Emergency, History, Allergy, and Medication. This procedure helps first responders give the patient the best care possible in the quickest amount of time.
• Senior Director of Facilities Mark Weaver provided updates on general projects in the community. Weaver also informed the council that the GRF board will review a request to add a north- and southbound turn only lane on the St. Andrews traffic light.
• Senior Director of Mutual Administration Jodi Hopkins provided an update on Mutual elections and the Stock Transfer escrow report.
•Executive Director David Norvell provided information regarding residents being more content with staff.
•Executive Manager, Dave Potter, presented a Power-Point presentation regarding AB1572 State Ban on Irrigation of Nonfunction Turf.
• Reminder: June meeting cancelled due to annual elections.
•Next council meeting: Wednesday, July 1, at 1:30 p.m., at Clubhouse 4, Zoom Tele-Video Conference and YouTube LIVE.
