Wa-Rite encourages women to experience the club
Wa-Rite is a femaleonly club that meets on Fridays from 9-10 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. For support on a weight-loss journey, women are welcome to stop by at 8:15 to weigh in and complete the registration paperwork.
Women who are curious about what happens at a Wa-Rite meeting are encouraged to come as a visitor. Joy Nasser stated, “I was a lurker, reading the Wa-Rite article in the LW Weekly every week and wondered what it was all about. As a new LW resident, I was intimidated to walk in by myself, not knowing anyone and it took me over a year to drum up the courage to attend a meeting.
In hindsight, I really wish I had done it sooner. I couldn’t have been welcomed more warmly or cheerfullyby all the members. It is the most wonderful group of ladies you could ever imagine and so much fun. I look forward to our meetings every week and always leave with a smile. It isn’t a meeting that tells you what you should or shouldn’t do. Because let’s face it, at our age, we all know what we are supposed to do. It is all the positive encouragement you could ever want. And included is the accountability by weighing in every week.”
The May 1 meeting included a business meeting. The club lost 43.5 pounds for the month, and the Queen of the Month for the most weight lost in April was leader Judy Chambers. The club lost 11.5 pounds for the week.
Julie Cisneros was not only the weeks biggest loser, she also reached another short term goal.
Cisneros said she concentrated on “chew, chew, chew” while she was eating her meals.
Denise Stabile earned her bachelors in goal weight. Stabile said she changed her definition of treating herself, respecting what her body needed, and “words matter.”
Degree member Bea Quintana maintained her goal weight for the entire month. She said it was more difficult this month but she did it.
This week’s food for thought: It’s an old saying but so true, “If at first you don’t succeed, try try again, and again, and again.”
