Sunshine Club
Dr. Curtis Sandy, M.D., will speak to the Sunshine Club about fall prevention on Friday, May 1, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, at 10 a.m.
Falls are a leading cause of injury for people over the age of 55 and can result in severe injuries with lasting impact. Dr. Sandy, Emergency Room physician, will discuss common causes of falls, and steps seniors can take to reduce their risk. He will also discuss special precautions for staying safe in the home with an emphasis on maintaining independence and quality of life while preventing serious injuries.
Dr. Sandy is an emergency medicine and EMS physician with over 40 years of experience in out-of-hospital medicine. He is the chief medical officer at Falck and serves as the medical director for Falck Physicians Group, Falck Mobile Care, and Falck Health Institute. He has a degree in EMS Management from The George Washington University and is board-certified in emergency medicine and EMS. He is a proven leader in EMS system design, development and medical direction providing consultation services across the United States.
His breadth of experience includes experience as an EMT, paramedic, flight physician, tactical physician, and EMS medical director. He is the medical director for several EMS agencies including EMT and paramedic education programs, wildland fire, tactical medicine, and air medical agencies.
