Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Fridays from 9-10 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. For support on a weight-loss j ourney, women are welcome to stop by at 8:15 to weigh in and complete the registration paperwork.

On April 17, members learned that the club lost a total of 14 pounds. President ludy Chambers was once again named the biggest loser with a 2-pound loss. She ate a lot of salads and less salt, and drank plenty of water.

Linda Rich talked about benefits of chair yoga and how even simple stretching can help older adults remain independent in doing daily activities. Rich said that chairyogaisn’tjustaboutstretching—it builds strength, increases range ofmotion in joints, improves posture and reduces risk of falls. She added that chair yoga may also ease the symptoms of depression. Additionally, mindful breathing and slow, rhythmic movements may stimulate the nervous system and improve cardiovascular health.

The weekly food for thought was: “I want to eat healthy because it will make me the healthiest I’ve ever been.”
