LW Korean Community Church celebrated the 90th birthday of Elder Han Youngkyun on April 19. His two sons, who traveled all the way from Atlanta, Georgia, to be there, joined the gathering to celebrate their father’s momentous birthday. Together with the entire congregation, they offered thanks to God for preserving the elder’s health throughout the past 90 years.

Senior Pastor Yong Jang-Young began his sermon with the words from John 20:26. “Blessed are those who believe.”

When Jesus rose from the dead, his disciples were thrown into great confusion. This confusion stemmed from their struggle to comprehend and accept the reality of Jesus’ resurrection solely through the lens of their own intellect and reason.

Thomas did not see the scene of the resurrection. Even after seeing Jesus in person, he refused to acknowledge the resurrection until he had personally verified Jesus’ wounds with his own hands.

God’s holy plan is for all people to embrace Jesus’ resurrection not merely through rational analysis, but through the eyes of faith. Just as Jesus led Thomas to faith only after allowing him to personally touch and verify His wounds, Jesus personally will reveal himself to each person who asks. The Holy Spirit comes to help. Even if believers cannot fully discern this truth through reason or intellect alone, true faith—that very faith which pleases God—is none other than the conviction that he has bestowed this gift of faith as a divine endowment.

LWKCC holds a worship service on Sundays at 11:30 a.m. at 14000 Church Place next to St. Andrews Gate. Early morning prayer is Tuesday-Saturday at 6 a.m. For more information, call 714-323-0897.
