Boots on Ground drill seeks residents to volunteer May 7
Boots On Ground is the Leisure World community disaster response plan. It was conceived and implemented by residents who understand and take seriously the fact that residents are “On Your Own” when disaster strikes in Leisure World. The group establishes a command and control structure and parcels out responsibilities among volunteers to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive response during a time that might otherwise be marked by confusion and disarray.
For it to be a success, it requires residents of all abilities to get
DRILL, page 17 involved and to practice responding before disaster strikes. The first practice session of the year will be held May 7 from 10 a.m.-noon in Clubhouse 3, Room 2. Volunteers can choose to participate in this tabletop exercise as part of a team from the 10 Leisure World clubs that are critical to an attainable plan. If there is an insufficient number of volunteers reserving their place by May 4, the drill will have to be called off.
For questions about the drill, call GRF Safety Manager Eloy Gomez at 310-431-6586, ext. 2356. To RSVP for the drill, email Marty17LWBD@gmail.com by Monday, May 4.
