Sang An scored a rare hole-in-one on ninth hole
GUYS AND GALS TOURNAMENT
A lovely cool morning greeted 29 teams of one man and one woman competing in the Guys and Gals golf tournament on April 15. The 1,680-yard par 54 Turtle Lake course was in excellent condition thanks to the efforts of the maintenance crew. Each team competed for best net scores, four circle holes, and two closest to the pin challenges.
Closest to the pin for the men on the fifth hole was Tom Owens and, on the 14th it was John Kolthoff; for the women it was Janice Turner and Hae Lee. There were six circle holes. Sang An scored a rare hole-in-one on the 110-yard ninth hole.
A flight winners (team handicaps 0-5): Kolthoff and Janell Hiebert, first place; Dong and Alison Kim, second; Bob and Janice Turner, and Young and Hae Lee, third.
B flight winners (team handicaps of 6-8): Dave LaCascia and Sue Sloan, first place; Dennis McMonigle and Vivian Ceballas, second; James Farr and Sandy Derouin, third; Bruce Bowles and Linda Herman, fourth.
C flight winners (team handicaps of 9-18): Terry Thrift and Marilyn Hewitt, first place; Dennis McMonigle and Bert Thompson, second; Hyon Shin and Sang An, third; James and Grace Choi, and Joon Sup and Young Sil Yoon, fourth.
The next Guys and Gals tournament will be on May 20 and every third and fifth Wednesday. The men’s tournament is played every second and fourth Wednesday of each month. —Dave LaCascia SAVE THE DATE There are still spots open for the Guys and Gals shotgun/scramble tournament on April 29. Starting time is at 8 a.m. with a minimum of nine mixed teams. Players must have a handicap to compete, and must sign up at the starter shack. Team groupings will be posted on April 28.
