Tournament Poker Club to play Saturday, April 11

Those who would like to play a fun and friendly game of Texas Hold ‘Em for a $5 buy-in can play on Saturday, April 11, with the Tournament Poker Club in Clubhouse 6. Regular tournaments are on the first three Saturdays of every month and start with coffee and registration at 10 a.m. Cards are in the air at 10:30. There is no late seating.

The club held its annual Dealer’s Only tournament on March 28. This special event is designed to recognize the efforts of the volunteers who act as dealers for regular Saturday tournaments. Skilled dealers need knowledge of the rules and a lot of patience to keep the game on track and players enjoying the game. Club dealers demonstrate those qualities every week and growing membership is evidence of that.

Participants ended their run in the following order: Wendy Wu, first place; Marvin Rolnick, second; Steve Edrich, third; Guta Basner, fourth; Barry Brideau, fifth; Kurt Bourhenne, sixth; Debbie Barner, seventh; Tom Pappas, eighth; Harry Sera, ninth; Donna Hernandez, 10th; Jon Jones, 11th; Glen Evenson, 12th; Tony Canfora, 13th.

Wu has lived in Leisure World for 18 years and has been a member of the club for 13 years. This was her 17th final table win. As a former professional dealer, Wu plays in several poker groups. She is also a formidable opponent at the table tennis tables.

The club congratulates and thanks Wu and all of the dealers for helping to make the club a fun place to spend time with friends on a Saturday.
